Verstappen Wins Miami Grand Prix
Red Bull Driver Takes Fifth Win of 2023

Red Bull's Max Verstappen has won the Miami Grand Prix, the fifth round of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship. Verstappen started the race in third place but quickly moved up to second, passing the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz Jr. on the opening lap. He then closed the gap to race leader Charles Leclerc, passing him on lap 18. Verstappen controlled the race from there, leading every lap to take his fifth win of the season.
Leclerc finished second, with Sainz Jr. completing the podium. George Russell finished fourth for Mercedes, while Lewis Hamilton finished fifth. Fernando Alonso finished sixth for Aston Martin, followed by Lando Norris in seventh for McLaren. Esteban Ocon finished eighth for Alpine, while Pierre Gasly finished ninth for AlphaTauri. Alex Albon rounded out the top 10 for Williams.
Verstappen's win extends his lead in the drivers' championship standings to 34 points over Leclerc. Red Bull also leads the constructors' championship standings, with 132 points to Ferrari's 104.
