The Rafah Border Crossing reopened on Sunday, allowing the first civilians to escape the Gaza Strip since the Israel-Gaza war started. The move comes as Israel has sealed its crossings with the territory following Hamas's October 7 seizure of control of the Gaza Strip.
The Rafah Border Crossing is the sole crossing point between Egypt and Palestine's Gaza Strip. It is the only Gazan border crossing that isn't controlled by Israel.
The Israeli military has seized control of the Gaza Strip side of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt. The move is part of an offensive in which Israel has killed more than 100 Palestinians and injured hundreds more.
